Dementia, particularly Alzheimer's disease, remains one of the most pressing neurological health challenges worldwide, with early diagnosis playing a crucial role in effective management and care. However, conventional diagnostic methods such as lumbar puncture, MRI, and PET scans face limitations due to their invasiveness, cost, and limited accessibility—especially in resource-constrained settings.

CognitEEG is an artificial intelligence–powered, web-based system designed to bridge this diagnostic gap. It utilizes electroencephalography (EEG), a non-invasive and cost-effective tool, to assess and classify brain function. The system transforms EEG signals into power spectrogram images, enabling precise pattern recognition through a deep learning framework that combines EfficientNet-based convolutional networks, transformer-based aggregation, and attention mechanisms.

Validated in collaboration with neurologists at Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital using real-world data from over 100 patients, CognitEEG demonstrates an accuracy exceeding 95% in classifying healthy individuals, Alzheimer's disease, vascular dementia, and frontotemporal dementia.

By facilitating early and accessible detection of dementia, CognitEEG supports timely intervention and personalized care, contributing to an improved quality of life for individuals at risk—especially in under-resourced communities.
